News for September 2025

This week's pattern is a cowl with medieval Egyptian motifs. It’s part of my series Knitting from Søndre Nordstrand, which celebrates knitting as a means for immigrants to integrate into Norwegian society.

In case you missed it: last week's pattern celebrates all the orange kittehs who share a single braincell, although you could of course knit it in your preferred cat colour ;-)

Finally, as American knitters begin to feel the effects of US tariffs, I've written an article about how Norwegian knitters managed yarn shortages in World War II. Many of these tips to skimp and save, as well as mend and reuse, will be familiar to modern readers, but there are some surprises to be found here too.
